MATT LIND
I first started diving as a youngster catching crays and pauas with my Dad. This has lead into a lifelong passion for diving and the underwater world that has dominated my adult life.
After leaving school I became a scuba instructor and during this time I began to spearfish fanatically. After five years as a dive instructor I began working at Wild Blue and Splash before leaving the company to work as a fireman in 2014. Funnily enough the four on four off rostering means I’m now diving more than ever.
Over the past fifteen years I’ve dived and competed throughout the New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, South Africa, Australia and Europe and worked as a commercial freediver in the seafood industry. One of the things I love most about spearfishing is working my way through the various fish species available to us and learning to hunt them in their different habitats.
My key goals now in spearfishing are to spend as much time as I can in the water, continue to photograph and write articles and to kill every john dory I see.
I love to help new divers however I can so just drop us a line here if I can help in any way.
